Dma boards?

Just recently heard of dma boards and looks pretty interesting to me but I don’t know where to start. Anyone have any advice on a product or what to look for in one. I don’t want to spent 300-700 on a board and realize I’m an idiot and need to get a different one. Any links or anything I need to know befor buying one would be much appreciated!
